BAKER & KEROUAC LISTENING TO EACH OTHER

Chet & Jack – Listening to each other is a jazz-literary concert conceived and realized by Marco Vezzoso, in collaboration with the writer and writer Giannino Balbis.
The project is dedicated to the great American trumpet player Chet Baker, tragically died in 1988, whose most famous pieces are proposed, accompanied by the reading of the most significant pages of “I Sotterranei” by Jack Kerouac, a novel set in San Francisco at the time of West-Coast Jazz (of which Chet Baker was a very original interpreter) and characterized by a style of writing strongly influenced by jazz.

The result is a singular musical-literary dialogue: Baker and Kerouac in turn express themselves in their own languages, different but deeply similar, from the top of their art and from the basement of their existential dramas, in an atmosphere of great tension and strong emotional involvement.

Realisation:

  • Marco Vezzoso – trumpet and flugelhorn
  • Alessandro Collina – piano
  • Giannino Balbis –  narrating voice
